German Minister for Europe Michael Roth is paying an official visit to Tirana. Following a meeting with Prime Minister Edi Rama, he said through a Twitter post that he welcomes the efforts done to reform the Albanian government, adding that there is still a lot to be done.
But earlier in an interview for Deutsche Welle, he was optimistic that Albania would get the candidate status for the European Union.
“Albania has achieved a lot. There are some concerns about combating organised crime, but again the recommendation is positive. This is good news not only for the country but also for the EU and for all the nation-friends and partners of Albania”.
The visit of the German Minister to Tirana and Skopje takes place a week before the 17 May summit in Sofia, where the EU Enlargement Strategy with the Western Balkan Countries will be discussed./tvklan.al
