28 permanent European ambassadors have gathered at the building of the Council of Ministers of the European Union to discuss, among other things, the accession negotiations of Albania and Macedonia with the European Union.
The discussions are focused on two camps: The German ambassador has stated that Germany expects the Bundestag’s federal parliament’s decision, while the French ambassador has stated that France is against the enlargement for the moment.
Although this attitude is general, according to France, countries which aspire to reach a more advanced level of European integration such as Macedonia and Albania must carry out internal reforms in the framework of strengthening the rule of law and the fight against organized crime and corruption,
Meanwhile, the Dutch ambassador said that the position of the Netherlands would be strict and honest as to whether the conditions for opening accession negotiations between Albania and Macedonia in the European Union are met.
The other member states seem to favor the opening of the negotiations, but Albania is still far from reaching the unanimity decision of the EU foreign ministers on June 26 that will lead the official decision of European leaders on June 29th./tvklan.al
