“Albania and Greece will postpone for a more convenient time the solution of bilateral differences”,

Greek newspaper “Kathimerini” reads.

This follows a political decision taken by Prime Minister Tsipras after the acrimonious aftermath of the Macedonia name deal.

In a letter for the head of the Committee for Foreign Policy, Kosta Douzinas, they refer to the issue as particularly urgent because the negotiations with Albania have reached a critical stage and the renegotiation of the maritime agreement has been completed.

“Kathimerini” reads that Cipas’s decision to postpone the agreement with Tirana aims to overwhelm domestic tensions until the full ratification of the agreement with Skopje.

“Kathimerini” further reads that apart from the political dimension of the issue, the negotiations with Albania are also complicated by the sensitive balances in Albanian politics.

According to the Greek newspaper, Albanian President Ilir Meta looks rather skeptical about approving an agreement on the maritime border with Greece, while Prime Minister Edi Rama seems to be more willing to move forward.

Asked by Klan TV, the Albanian Foreign Ministry said the process continues and that the parties are in constant communication on all issues with Greece.

The last meeting of negotiating groups was held in Athens last week in which the parties looked optimistic, but without giving details of the progress of the talks./tvklan.al
