The Democratic Party says businessman Edmond Bego, convicted in Italy for involving in a criminal group has benefited from Tirana-Elbasan’s tender in violation of the law on public procurement.
The opposition mentions the law according to which persons with criminal offenses cannot receive public money bidding.
“The Law on Public Procurement clearly stipulates that state authorities should exclude from a procurement procedure any bidder, when there is evidence that he has been convicted by a final court decision for involvement in criminal organizations”.
The public procurement law came into force in 2006 and for Democrats it is unacceptable how Edmond Bego has benefited about 14m euros from the state budget with several public projects carried out by his company. The opposition does not provide data on what period Begos Company has acquired the right from the Transport Ministry to be a subcontractor in the Tirana-Elbasan road project./tvklan.al
