The Ambassador of the European Union delegation in Tirana, Romana Vlahutin, has warned Albanian politics that a big work is waiting for them if the opening of Albania’s negotiations with the EU are officially approved.
During the discussion with the Albanian MPs on the progress report, Vlahutin stressed that the changes that will take place if the negotiations begin will make many politicians tremble.
“Albania has reached that stage where other countries in the process were at the moment given a positive recommendation for negotiation. The work that the country will have to do during accession negotiations is something that you need to be aware, because it will be very big. It will be very invasive, so you should get ready for it. These are called negotiations, but basically there is nothing to negotiate, so I would rather call membership talks. You will need to approximate your legislation, but also your behavior towards European Union standards. What is negotiated are deadlines, which means the time you need”,
Vlahutin said.
Regarding the 5 EU priorities for Albania, the ambassador emphasized that they will always be at the center of attention even when the country opens accession negotiations with the European Union.
“Absolutely remain a priority. They will remain absolute priorities during the negotiations, will remain the same even after the country joins the EU. The positive recommendation predicts constant progress”, Romana Vlahutin said./tvklan.al
