The American State Department has designated the former Chief Prosecutor of Albania Adriatik Llalla. The decision, published on Wednesday, states that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson approved the designation measure due to the involvement of former Albanian official in significant corruption cases.
“Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is publicly designating former Albanian Prosecutor General Adriatik Llalla under Section 7031(c) of the FY 2017 Consolidated Appropriations Act due to his involvement in significant corruption. Section 7031(c) provides that, in cases where the Secretary of State has credible information that foreign officials have been involved in significant corruption or gross violations of human rights, those individuals and their immediate family members are ineligible for entry into the United States. The law also requires the Secretary of State to publicly or privately designate such officials and their family members. In addition to the designation of Mr. Llalla, the Secretary is also publicly designating Mr. Llalla’s spouse, Ardjana Llalla, his daughter, Eni Llalla, and his other, non-U.S. citizen child”,
