Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted to the flood situation that has included especially Central and Southern Albania. Through a Facebook post, he states that all state structures are alerted to help the citizens.

Prime Minister warns that overnight 315 people have been evacuated and stresses that the situation in Southern Albania will be aggravated during the following hours. The Armed Forces, Civil Emergencies, Municipalities, Prefectures and Police Forces are co-operating to handle this emergency situation.

“As we have been warned, we are in an extraordinary situation by the massive  rainfall of the last two days. This situation is being handled with the utmost commitment of all state structures, which were in full readiness and since yesterday evening are in charge of duty by helping the affected citizens and families.

During the night they were saved from floods and accommodated in safe conditions 315 people. Today is expected to exacerbate the situation, especially in the southern part of the country. Measures have been taken to manage the situation in the river basins Vjosa, Shkumbini and Seman, where increased inflows are expected.

The entire state is standing and will be in your disposal, day and night to cope with the situation to ensure the safety of life until full normalization of the situation.
