US Ambassador Donald Lu reacted to the Prosecution Law Initiative. Through a Facebook post on the US Embassy, Lu says he supports the legal opinion that OPDAT and EURALIUS have given to parliament.

“The Constitution and the Prosecutorial Law are clear. The U.S Embassy endorses the OPDAT and EURALIUS legal opinion provided to the parliament”

, Ambassador Lu said.

This reaction of the US Embassy comes a few days after the opposition undertook an initiative to make amendments to the election of the Attorney General.

According to the initiative, DP requests the amendment of the Constitution and the law on the basis of which the General Prosecutor is elected, while the amendment removes the mandate of the Provisional Prosecutor. The amendment holds the signature of the MPs of the Democratic Party, the Socialist Movement for Integration and the allied parties, while it is said to have an end to the unconstitutionality.

Following the statement by US Ambassador Donald Lu on Prosecution Law, Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted by attacking the opposition.

In a post on social networks, Rama backs the embassy statement, while ironically saying that the opposition cannot read the Constitution./tvklan.al
