The first joint meeting of the Albanian and Macedonian governments was held this Friday in Pogradec city. In the opening speech, Prime Minister Edi Rama said that this first meeting is an important step in the consolidation of relations between the two countries. According to Rama, Albania remains one of Macedonia’s most important supporters to its integration into NATO.
While during the joint press conference, prime ministers announced the signing of several agreements between the two countries for convenience in the movement of goods and in the field of security, education and culture.
The head of the Albanian government said co-operation between the two countries ending a story where past conflicts threaten to return us to obstacles in the ways of the future.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Zaev thanked Albania for the support given to NATO, while regarding the Albanian Language Law, he said it is in the first phase in parliament.
Earlier in the joint meeting, Rama considered Macedonia’s stability also important for the entire region. The Macedonian PM also praised Albania’s support and said his government is working to guarantee the rights of Albanians under the Ohrid Agreement.
The prime ministers also announced that the next meeting between the two governments will be held in early 2018 in Ohrid and Struga./tvklan.al
